Alexander MacQueen had his stunning spring 2010 collection in Paris. The unusual highlights were nearly too numerous to register. The show started with a recording of a topless Raquel Zimmermann writhing within the sand in the company of snakes. A few models sported prosthetics surrounding their eyes to make them appear as if aliens (they took 3 hours to use). However as far as facts go, it was the heels that stole the show. At 10 inches, those beautiful hooflike monsters have been the best heels to march the length of a Paris runway this season. A selection of these shoes appear as if elaborate funky disco lobster claws, whereas the middle one seems like it’s about to come back alive and swallow that model’s leg. Alexander Mc Queen seemingly did not catch any of this season’s instructions concerning the risks of sky-scraping heels. At his alternative-worldly fashion extravaganza in Paris yesterday, the designer sent 10-inch-tall heels down the runway. A few were sequined, some animal skinned, some were painted and others look created from plastic. Which of these killer heels are to die for? And which Alexandre Mcqueen may really kill you?
