Discovering Reciprocal Linking Etiquette

On November 26, 2009 in Internet

When you find sites that link out but don’t have instructions, it’s time to send them an email and request a backlink. This is normal on the internet and is an important step in the process of getting reciprocal links.

Another normal practice for “proper netiquette” is to link to the other site first before you request a link exchange.

Here is an example of what to say in the email for seo link building:

Subject: For Jim, from Bob Re: Link Exchange

Hi Jim,

I see that you trade links and I would like to do a link exchange with you. I have added your link to our resources section already at:
(your link here)

Please let me know if you want me to change the anchor text or description?

By the way, you’ve got a wonderful store, I really like all the different bird baths you offer. Our domain is a PR5 and I think it’s a great complement for your resources section as it’s highly relevant to your site.

Please link to our site using the following:
(put the code to link to your site here)
