How to get Half or Full Compensation for a lack of Income with Social Security
On July 26, 2009 in Social
Many Americans rely on social security. It’s given to people who are retiring, unemployed or disabled and can’t work at all. If you can’t work full time due to a disability, you can apply for social security SSI, which is supplemental income. SSI will cover the pay that you are losing by only being able to work some of the time, and this can include people who are blind, deaf or who suffer other disabilities. An individual can earn $674 or a couple can get $1011 as per the 2009 federal SSI conditions. Some states will even give additional income to supplement the government funds.
Social security disability benefits don’t come from the same account as SSI. The amount rewarded is calculated on the amount of taxable hours the person has ever worked. Should you be denied the claim you made for benefits or SSI compensation, you can place a social security appeal. This appeal must be made within 60 days of the decision to be considered. Your case will then be reviewed and you will have to attend a hearing. You will be given all information and instructions in writing 20 days prior to the hearing, but if you are confused, there are many websites that will provide additional information.
